Adventure guide

Adventure & ski travel insurance

Skiing, scuba diving, trekking and motorbiking are often excluded from basic plans. Here's how to make sure you're covered.

Check the activity list

Policies list covered and excluded activities. Common exclusions include off-piste skiing, diving below a set depth, high-altitude trekking, skydiving and riding a motorbike without a valid license.

Upgrades

Many insurers sell an adventure or winter sports add-on that covers the activity itself, rescue costs, and sometimes equipment and lift passes.

Rescue and evacuation

Mountain rescue and air evacuation can be very expensive. Look for high evacuation limits and confirm search and rescue is included.

Thailand and Southeast Asia

Scooter accidents are among the most common claims. Many policies won't pay unless you hold a motorcycle license valid at home and wore a helmet. See our Thailand guide.
